LBD Toolkit

In 2014 the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO developed a toolkit to help young people anywhere in the world to organise an LBD event in their local area. It will be launched at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan in March, 2015. You can also download a draft PDF version below.

About LBD

Looking Beyond Disaster is a framework for bringing young people together around the theme of natural disasters and the impacts they have on communities.

Established initially in Christchurch, New Zealand , it has been a multi-day forum series maintained and developed by the alumni of previous forums, and others who recognise the value of the contributions young people can make to their communities as well as the value of international connections.

Below are summary videos from the first three LBD forums that were held. These videos were made by participant-facilitators Salvador Cantellano and Owen Novello of Digital CinematiX and Tal Fitzpatrick of Volunteering Queensland.

Please contact us for more information, or download the LBD toolkit to see how it might be helpful for you.
